The Six Sixes Challenge: Can You Hit All 6?
In cricket, hitting six sixes in an over is one of the rarest feats in the sport. Yuvraj Singh did it in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Herschelle Gibbs did it in an ODI. It's happened maybe a handful of times in professional cricket history. In SweepSix, we decided to build an entire game mode around it — and it turns out it's just as hard in a video game.
The Six Sixes Challenge is one of SweepSix's most popular modes. It's brutally simple: you get six deliveries, and you need to hit a six off every single one. No pressure.
How the Six Sixes Challenge Works
Here's the setup. You walk out to bat. There are no wickets to worry about, no run chasing, no partner at the other end. Just you, the bowler, and six balls. The goal is maximizing your sixes.
The bowler doesn't make it easy. You won't face six identical deliveries. The AI mixes things up:
- Ball 1-2: Usually fast or medium pace. These are your "settling in" balls. The speed is manageable but they test your timing early.
- Ball 3-4: The bowler starts mixing in swing or variations. An outswinger followed by an inswinger is a classic combo that catches people off guard.
- Ball 5-6: This is where it gets spicy. Expect spin, slower balls, or yorkers designed specifically to ruin your clean sweep. Ball 6 with five sixes already in the bag is genuinely nerve-wracking.
How Scoring Works
Your primary score is simply how many sixes you hit out of six attempts. But there's more nuance to the leaderboard ranking:
| Result | What It Means |
|---|---|
| 6/6 Sixes | Perfect score. You're a legend. Share it immediately. |
| 5/6 Sixes | So close. That one ball that went for a four instead will haunt you. |
| 4/6 Sixes | Solid effort. You've got the basics down. |
| 3/6 or below | Keep practicing. Read the tips below. |
Your total runs are also tracked. A perfect 36 (six sixes) is the maximum, but even when you don't hit a six, fours and other runs still count toward your total. The leaderboard ranks by sixes first, then total runs as a tiebreaker.
Tips to Hit All Six Sixes
After watching thousands of attempts (and failing plenty ourselves), here's what separates the 6/6 players from everyone else.
1. Timing Is Everything — Literally
The timing bar is the single most important mechanic. A perfectly timed shot will travel further than a mistimed one, regardless of your shot selection. Focus on hitting the green zone. If you can consistently land in the perfect timing window, you can hit sixes off almost any delivery.
2. Pick Your Shot Early
Don't wait until the ball is released to decide your shot direction. Have a plan before each delivery. For the first couple of balls, straight drives and lofted shots over mid-on are reliable six-hitting zones. Decide your direction early so you can focus entirely on timing when the ball arrives.
3. Read the Delivery Type
The bowler's run-up and release give clues about what's coming. Fast deliveries have a longer, more aggressive run-up. Spin deliveries are slower with a different arm action. If you spot spin early, adjust your timing — you'll need to wait a fraction longer before swinging.
Common mistake: Swinging too early on slower balls. When the bowler drops their pace, your muscle memory from the faster deliveries will betray you. Take a breath, wait for the ball, then swing.
4. The Midwicket Zone is Your Friend
Statistically, shots aimed through the midwicket region (between mid-on and square leg) produce the most sixes in SweepSix. The bat angle and swing arc naturally generate more elevation in this zone. It's the cricket game equivalent of "when in doubt, pull it over midwicket."
5. Stay Calm on Ball 6
You've hit five sixes. One ball left. The temptation is to swing harder, go bigger, try to smash it out of the virtual stadium. Don't. Ball 6 is exactly the same as balls 1-5 mechanically. The only thing that changes is your brain. Treat it like just another delivery. Same process: pick your shot, focus on timing, execute.
6. Practice the Timing First
If you're struggling with the challenge, spend a few overs in a regular match or practice mode just focusing on the timing bar. Don't worry about shot selection or scoring — just practice nailing the green zone. Once perfect timing becomes automatic, the sixes follow naturally.
Share Your Results
After each Six Sixes attempt, SweepSix generates a share card — a clean image showing how many sixes you hit. One tap sends it to WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram stories, or wherever you want to flex (or commiserate).
The share card shows your score prominently, your total runs, and uses the SweepSix branding so your friends know where to go to try and beat you. It's designed for social sharing: the image is the right aspect ratio for stories and posts, and it looks good on both light and dark backgrounds.
The Global Leaderboard
Every Six Sixes attempt is recorded on the global leaderboard, powered by Firebase in real time. You can see:
- Top scores worldwide — who's hit the most perfect 6/6 attempts
- Your personal best — tracked across sessions
- How you rank — your position among all players
The leaderboard creates a surprisingly addictive loop. Hit 4 out of 6? You know you can do better. Hit 5 out of 6? That one missed six nags at you. Hit all 6? Time to do it again and see if you can do it faster, smoother, more consistently.
The History Behind Six Sixes
The Six Sixes Challenge is inspired by some of cricket's greatest moments. Sir Garfield Sobers was the first to hit six sixes in an over in first-class cricket, back in 1968 against Glamorgan. Ravi Shastri matched the feat in 1985. And then Yuvraj Singh made it iconic during the 2007 T20 World Cup, smashing Stuart Broad for six consecutive sixes in what might be the most replayed over in cricket history.
In professional cricket, it's happened fewer than ten times in over 150 years. In SweepSix, we let you try it as many times as you want. Though based on the leaderboard data, the completion rate suggests it's not exactly easy here either.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Six Sixes Challenge in SweepSix?
The Six Sixes Challenge is a game mode where you face exactly 6 deliveries and need to hit a six off every single one. The bowler varies their delivery types — fast, swing, spin — so you'll need to adapt your timing for each ball. Results are scored and ranked on a global leaderboard.
How do you hit a six in SweepSix?
To hit a six, you need the right shot selection combined with good timing. Choose an aggressive shot direction (straight or over midwicket), then hit the timing bar in the green "perfect" zone. The timing matters most — a perfectly timed shot generates the most power and distance.

Yes. After every attempt, SweepSix generates a share card showing your score. You can share this image directly to WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram, or any platform using your device's native share functionality.
Is there a leaderboard for the Six Sixes Challenge?
Yes. SweepSix has a global leaderboard powered by Firebase that tracks scores in real time. Your best attempt is recorded and ranked against players worldwide. The leaderboard ranks by number of sixes hit, with total runs as a tiebreaker.
